Fundación Tónica is a non-profit association founded in Guadalajara, Jalisco in 2007 by Gilberto Cervantes and Sara Valenzuela, musicians and promoters who have worked in the consolidation of a comprehensive and multidisciplinary high impact cultural project based on training and diffusion of creative music.
COURSE OF_ACTION
GENERAL OBJETIVE
To enrich the personal and professional development of musicians, producers, and the general public by giving them the opportunity to experience the best performers worldwide and distinct cultural activities, thereby creating a society that includes culture —especially music— as part of its comprehensive development.
ACCOMPLISHMENTS_
– Agreement with Universidad de Guadalajara’s economic and administrative bachelor studies to offer practices and internships to the undergraduate students.
– Partnership with the Secretaría de Cultura del Estado de Jalisco (State’s cultural affair department) to present the Jalisco Jazz Festival.
– Association with the US Embassy Consulate in Guadalajara to present activities for the first time the International Jazz Day in Guadalajara.
PROJECTS_
The Tónica Ensemble is made up of and reinvented each year by the most talented students that participate in the Guadalajara International Jazz Seminar. The ensemble is directed by Brian Lynch and responsible for representing our organization in cultural and educational activities at both the national and international level, introducing Mexico’s new generation of jazz musicians.
NOS TOCA It is our fundraising campaign that will allow us to grant mexican talents to attend the activities of our educational activities to complement their musical training with some of the best exponents of jazz and music industry.
The goal of the program is to join and guide the nonprofit sector in building networks of organizations who share common goals that are achieved through arts education. The program is a nonprofit activity and plays a fundamental role in strengthening our country’s culture and our society’s advancement.
